If updating a social platform is an afterthought for you, you’re doing it wrong. Social media is for being exactly what it says -social! It’s a competitive field, so if you fail to stay engaged you’ll be forgotten as quickly as it took someone to “like” you. Constant interaction with your followers keeps your brand relevant. Make it a manageable priority by focusing on at least two platforms that compliment your audience the best.
Be sure to respect the flow of each media account as well. If you’re posting on Facebook, 2 times a day is acceptable. However, if Twitter is a more suitable option for your business, posting 5-7 times a day is more appropriate.
- YOU TREAT IT AS A SALES PITCH
There are enough sales ads on the internet to go around for everyone. The last thing a viewer wants to be bombarded with is another robotic promotion. Believe it or not, consumers want to like your company, give them a reason! Instead of selling, use this opportunity to hone in on a more personal side. Engage in conversation that will help build rapport with your fan base. The key part of building relationships requires listening. By receiving feedback on what is most important to your audience, you can learn the needs of others and tailor company initiatives toward those clues. In the end, this tactic is a win-win for both parties.
- YOU HAVE NO STRATEGY
Flying by the seat of your pants only works in some situations. In this case, that is not the answer. Knowing your intentions in advance helps you to better integrate your following. Get clear on what you would like to accomplish in advance. Think of ways to make it creatively trendy. You can look at last year’s effective marketing strategies as a guide. Create a plan or calendar of how you will accomplish consecutive campaigns.
- ITS ALL ABOUT YOU
Ever heard the phrase, sharing is caring? Well it’s true. Sharing is caring, but not when it’s always just about your brand. That’s a surefire way to just fade into the background noise in a busy world. People want to know how you can help them. Don’t forget to feature additional stimulating topics and news from the outside world. People will appreciate you a lot more if you’re sharing useful information and helpful advice. Think of a time when you got good advice from a friend. You’re likely to turn to them again the next time you feel stuck. Same thing applies here.
