Being the owner of an SEO agency for over a decade, I can confidently say that the search industry is shifting gears. We have all become used to using Google to type in a search query and scroll through results in hopes of finding what we are looking for. With the release of tools like ChatGPT in November 2022, people are starting to prefer the “ask” experience rather than the “search” experience.
Why would you need to search a topic and scroll through the results page to find your answer when you can just use an AI generative experience to ask your question and get an immediate answer? Chat GPT provides faster solutions to people’s questions than Google currently. However, Google’s AI “Bard” provides a similar system to Chat GPT and will still reference high-ranking websites.
